Alan Thompson enters his 9th season as the Bellaire Women’s Soccer Head Coach, and his 13th season overall as a High School Women’s Head Soccer Coach (four years at Fort Bend Dulles).  His career coaching record is 183-77-26, 123-46-15 at BHS.  He is a four-time district 20-6A Coach of the Year (2013, 2014, 2017, 2018), a 2018 Texas 6A Region III Coach of the Year finalist, a member of the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches, the Texas Girls Coaches Association, and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Coach Thompson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and grew up playing soccer, basketball, tennis, and baseball.  He attended Columbus East High School (Columbus, Indiana) where he was a three-sport athlete and multiple All-State selection in basketball and tennis as well as an Academic All-Conference and All-State recipient.  Thompson attended The University of Findlay (Findlay, Ohio) on scholarship to play basketball and tennis.  He holds numerous University career tennis records, and is second in the school’s history in career wins (94).  Thompson graduated with honors from Findlay (’01) with degrees in Psychology and Education with a specialization in Technical Writing.

Coach Thompson earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration in 2004 and a Master’s degree in Counseling in 2005 from the University of Houston.  This is his 10th year at Bellaire where he is an Instructional Specialist and the Campus Testing Coordinator.  He is also Adjunct Faculty in the College of Education at the University of Houston where he has taught Classroom Management for the past eleven years.

In addition to coaching soccer, Coach Thompson also participates in and coaches other athletes in endurance sports.  He has completed over 20 marathons, multiple ultra-marathons, and six full Ironman triathlons.  He is currently attempting to qualify for the Boston marathon.

Thompson is married to wife Amber, a Clinical Associate Professor and the Director of Teacher Education at the University of Houston. The couple resides in Cinco Ranch and has four daughters, Madeline, 18, 5 year old twins, Blaire and Quinn, and 2 year old, Kate Kinsley.
